Thank you, West Virginia

After a long 60th day--the 2026 West Virginia Legislative Session came to an end. Throughout the session we monitored nearly 40 bills that could have impacted vaccine laws in West Virginia. The vast majority of those proposals would have weakened the protections that keep our communities healthy. Thankfully, none of them passed.

There were moments--especially during the final week--when the outcome was uncertain. At several points it looked like expanded school-entry vaccine exemptions might move forward, which would have put our kids and communities at risk. But West Virginians like you spoke up. You paid attention, stayed engaged, and made it clear that protecting public health matters. Our legislators heard that message.

Because of your support, West Virginia’s strong vaccine protections remain in place.

We are incredibly grateful for the time, attention, and advocacy you brought to this legislative session. Every email sent, conversation held, and moment spent paying attention to what was happening at the Capitol helped ensure that science and public health stayed part of the conversation.

But our work isn’t finished.

If these past few years showed us anything, it’s that these issues aren’t going away. We know proposals to expand vaccine exemptions are likely to come back in 2027. That means 2026 is our time to prepare. Over the coming months, West Virginia Families for Vaccines will be working to grow our network of advocates, strengthen partnerships across the state, and make sure lawmakers continue hearing from West Virginians who support strong vaccine protections.

Together, we can build the momentum we need before the next legislative session begins.

Thank you for standing with us and for standing up for the health of West Virginia. We'll be in touch!

With gratitude,
